Where do you go when the waves of anxiety, the weight of depression, spiraling despair or grief threaten to take hold? What stories do you tell yourself about your suffering or fear or desire?

Psychoanalysis is a unique relationship with a professional other who listens closely to your experience. Together we work to find words for what feels untranslatable or too painful to touch.

In our work together, I ask about your present life—what incites suffering or hope or disappointment or joy or anger; do memories or past experiences irrupt without warning or feel out of control; how does anxiety or depression or mania feel?

Our history lives in our bodies, showing up in somatic and psychic symptoms that when witnessed by another reveal new possibilities for negotiating trauma and extreme experiences to offer relief, understanding and connection. While our past shapes our present it doesn’t determine our future. Attending to relationship patterns, physical symptoms, memories, dreams, as so many ways of listening to what remains unconscious yet wants to be known creates understanding and agency even amidst uncertainty.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a slow process, yet I believe this relational work invites a deep and lasting understanding of your internal world so that you can access imagination, desire, joy, meaningful relationships and the life you want to live.

I work with individuals negotiating anxiety, depression, grief, transitioning and LGBT issues. I have experience working with extreme experiences, bipolarity, schizo-affective disorders, sexual abuse, trauma and PTSD.

Sharing in a person’s internal world is a gift. I look forward to speaking with you.
